AT&T Establishes Credibility

From the moment the film begins, the rhetor is successful in displaying the AT&T emblem on the screen to authenticate the product to the audience. According to Arne Holst, a statistician and operator to Statista, which is a globalwide business data platform, “AT&T is one of the largest telecommunications operators in the United States. In 2018, the company employed approximately 268 thousand people and had over 150 million connections across its wireless service,” thus establishing AT&T’s ethos as a rising consumer corporation (Holst 1). In order to captivate the audience from the beginning, the film unfolds with the scene of the father and his daughters having fun in a brand new car.

in the circumstance of potential dilemma, the father can be quoted with foretelling “I will never check my phone with my kids in the car.” This notion is relative to AT&T’s argument that distracted driving is ethically and morally unjust and affirms the ethos of the father. By modeling safe driving practices, the father acts as a loving and devoted role model to his children, thus enabling the audience to find it easier to trust him in his role as the driver and parental figure.
