Daybook Entry Journal Number: I’ve lost count, I can’t add, and my brain is fried because it is FINALS SEASON! (God, I want the Four Seasons Diner…#justTomsRiverthings)

*Actual pizza from the Four Seasons. I only eat Plain Pizza, so this image makes me miss it* less; PSYCHOLOGY BAM!

Disclaimer: The sentiment expressed above is not shade at the daybook journal or Dr. Andrews. In fact, take out your daybooks at this time because I want to take the time with you to discuss what our daybooks mean to me.

Fostering a lifelong commitment to wisdom and learning, my daybook means more to me than I ever thought possible. When I first came to Fairfield, I felt one feeling and one feeling only; PETRIFIED (SOMEONE START PLAYING I WILL SURVIVE; you know because “FIRST I WAS AFRAID, I WAS PETRIFIED… *crickets*) That’s usually how it goes for me but something sparked my attention from day one; my daybook. When I returned from class having been told about the daybook assignment, I promised myself that my daybook would serve as a showcase on my first semester in college. As adorable as it sounds, it is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. (I’M A POLITICS GUY SO LET ME BE ME) When I flip through the pages now, I smile because I see that I am making the most out of my college experience; I have grown more as a scholar and human being in this one semester than I have ever grown before. For this, I am eternally grateful for all of you and my daybook for making my first semester so wonderful.

* The start of my journey as a Fairfield Stag!

With respect to Dr.Andrews’ course, my writing has improved so much that I simply am in awe over it. In the beginning of the semester, I felt as though it took me hours to write the introduction to an analysis or even the blog posts. Now, however, something clicked within me and I am able to successfully put words on paper in a significantly less amount of time. Do I submit it immediately… NO because my mother always told me “THE FIRST ONE DONE IS THE FASTEST ONE TO RUSH EVERYTHING!” So, what do I do with all this extra time? Do I sleep, eat, cry, or watch Netflix? The answer is E; NONE OF THE ABOVE! I work diligently to REVISE my own authentic work.

Revision is Key! I find myself revising my work all the time: I get into it!

I typically aim at writing a Shi*** First Draft, like that article we once read told us to do. If you haven’t tried it out yet, I think you’re nuts. I love spewing out my thoughts on paper because writing is a process. (OH YEAH, PORTFOLIO PROJECT GOLD STAR STATUS). Anyway, I wrote about each writing assignment we had (minus the Blog Posts) to express my plan and revision tactics. I think it is crazy for me to wrap my head around how far I have come since I used to write papers with a one and done ideology ingrained in my head; I would physically look over my written piece once and be over and out with it. (Well, as those annoying tutorial videos once proclaimed to us… NOT ANYMORE!)

* Just a little reminder from my daybook that I would like to share as we enter Finals!
